Entrar en el modo BootRom del modem requiere un poco de pericia y rapidez. Aún así este modo MON>, como se le denomina en el siguiente texto, carece de real potencia siendo usuario normal.

Para nuestro objetivo de devolver al modem Nokia, a un estado inicial o reseteado, la única solución pasa por borrar el fichero *.pwd.cfg que es el que contiene las passwords, para así poder ajustar una nueva.


Entrando en este modo BootRom sin password de administración, se hace en modo usuario, y los privilegios y permisos para operar en él son menores.


Perdo dado que este procedimiento no está documentado por Nokia, creemos que puede tener algo detrás.Aquí te dejamos el contenido del mensaje y suerte.

“I have a procedure that could possibly help you, but the fact that you
can’t see the .pwd.cfg file in the MON> mode is still a concern to me.
For this procedure to work, the file has to be deleted first. Beyond
this, I don’t have much more that I can offer. The following is what
was sent to me:

Follow these steps if you want to recover the password. Note
that all previous passwords will be wiped out completely and you will
have to create new ones. You don’t have to delete the image.exe file.
Your main concern is the password file( .pwd.cfg ) which must be
replaced. This file is visible only from within the(MON>) “BootRom”
mode, so you need to get into bootrom mode.

(1) Use HyperTerminal to gain access to the modem CLI via the console
port. Of course you wouldn’t be able to log on because you don’t know
the password.
(2) Now power cycle the modem ie turn off the power and then turn it on
again. Once the power is turned on, press the letters “m” and then “o”
within 10 seconds. You have to be fast. What this does is prevents the
modem from loading the startup.cfg file ie you are forced into the
“BootRom” mode.
(3) “dir” -> list all the possible files ie startup.cfg, “.pwd.cfg”,
“.pwd.bak” etc. Your main concern is the password file “.pwd.cfg”
(4) Delete the password files by issuing the following commands:
del .pwd.cfg
del .pwd.bak
(5) Restart the modem by issuing “restart” at the prompt ie
MON > restart
(6) When the modem retarts, all password related information would have
been erased from the system. You will now be prompted for a login-id and
password, ie
login-id:
password:
Just hit the return key in either case. The issue here is that once the
modem is restarted, a new “.pwd.cfg” file is created. This file is
however blank.
(7) Now you can create new passwords for the different user levels:

M1122 > config and then password
M1122(conf-password)#
The different user levels are “user”, “bridge-user”, “router-user”,
“pptp-user”, “napt-user” and “admin”. Note that not all of these users
have the same user rights in terms of configuring the modem. If you do
not create any passwords, then the “admin” user will take precedence and
you can do what ever you please with the modem, but it is advisable to
create the “admin” user password first. Do the following:
M1122(conf-password)# admin “password”, where “password” is the
admin user password
Do the same for all the other users. Should you wish to delete the
passwords, then ensure that the “admin” password is deleted “last”.
(8) Exit by issuing the command “quit” at the prompt. Now save the
configuration to the startup file:
M1122 > save config startup
This will save the password related information to the “.pwd.cfg” file.
(9) Restart the modem:
M1122 > reload

You will now be prompted for a “login-id” and “password”.

Hope this helps! Your MON-U> prompt tells me this modem is allowing
only user access at the CLI interface.”
